Your privacy is very important to us. So we have created this document to outline how we collect, use, disclose and store your personal information.
Hollins Certificates is a North Carolina corporation based in the United States. Our web site is intended to be used for e-commerce: for ordering and selling products on-line.
What information we collect.
Like all web sites, we collect two classes of information about you.
We only collect personally identifying information you voluntarily give us when you set up an account with us, or when you place an order with us. We do not collect personally identifying information from third parties.
You can review all personally identifying information you have provided us when you set up your account by visiting your profile page.
How we use your personal information.
We only use your e-mail address to contact you regarding your order, or to allow you to reset your password. If you select "Send me e-mail notifications" in your profile page or when setting up your account, we will also periodically send you an e-mail listing new products for sale or site-wide announcements. These e-mails are generally sent once a month. You may discontinue receiving these e-mails by either un-checking the option on your profile page, or by e-mailing us.
We only use your physical address to send products you order from us, which we share with the mail carrier for that order.
We share your personal information with our payment processors below, as required for on-line payments from those companies.
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties. We do not sell or rent your contact information to advertisers nor will we send third-party advertising to you.
How long will we store your personal information.
We will continue to store your personal information as provided to us to complete specific orders for as long as legally required for auditing and inventory control purposes. Other personal information, such as your name, address and phone numbers may be reviewed or removed by visiting your profile page.
Collection and use of non-identifying information.
Like all web sites we collect data which, on its own, does not permit direct association with an individual. Data collected by our hosting company MochaHost includes information such as your computer's IP address, browser information and referrer web sites, as well as the pages you visit on our web site. This data is collected automatically for us by our web host and shared with us; we may use this data for web site maintenance and optimization.
How your data is secured.
Our web site makes use of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, encrypting all transfers between your web browser and our servers. Personally identifying information is stored on a database hosted by our web host provider. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology is also used to encrypt payments made on our web site.
We use a small bit of randomly generated data, called a "cookie" in order to track your current session on our web site. This cookie is generated as soon as you land on our web page, and is a "non-persistent cookie," meaning the cookie is deleted as soon as you close the Hollins Certificates web page. This cookie solely exists for us to track your current session on our web site, to allow us to associate data (such as your shopping cart) with the current session.
When you create an account or log into your account, if you select "Remember me on this computer", we save a second bit of persistent data on your computer, indicating who you are, in order to speed up logging into your computer. This bit of data persists for one year or until you select "Sign Out" in the upper-right corner. This bit of data only permits you to rapidly place new orders, but still requires you to enter your password in order to update or change account information.
Financially sensitive data.
We use both Square, Inc. and PayPal, Inc. to process on-line payments. In both cases, we use APIs which do not permit us to see your credit card information as you enter it into our web site; the only information we receive is a randomly-generated token indicating the transaction is complete.
With Square, we only share the minimum amount of personally identifying information necessary in order to facilitate your credit card payment; this includes your shipping address and billing zip code.
With PayPal, we share the complete details of your order and shipping address; this is to allow PayPal users to be able to see their orders on PayPal, as well as for payment processing.
Disclosure to third parties.
As outlined above, we share personally identifying information with PayPal and Square to process credit card purchases. We also use your mailing address solely for the purpose of sending products that you order.
We do not disclose your personally identifying information to any other parties.
European Union General Data Protection Regulation
Hollins Certificates is located in the United States, and all your personal information is stored outside of the European Union. However, we believe that our handling of your personal information complies with the requirements of the GDPR.
Hollins Certificates does retain personal information only as necessary to process orders, and does not share your personal information with any third-parties except as outlined above. As such we reserve the right to retain your information (including a log of all orders placed) for the purposes of inventory control, auditing and verifying past orders for legal compliance.
Hollins Certificates does not make use of Automated Decision Making systems directly, but we do rely on our payment processing companies to determine if a credit card transaction may go through. Please visit Square and PayPal for more information.
Hollins Certificates does not collect personally identifying information from third-party providers; we only collect information you voluntarily provide us. You may download a computer-readable XML file containing the data we track with your account by visiting your profile's export page. This file contains the data we've captured with your account, including all prior orders as well as saved addresses and phone numbers. You may also review and correct this information on our web site by visiting your profile page.
If you place orders on our web site without creating an account, we only store the order information as necessary for fulfillment and auditing purposes. At present we have no mechanism for linking those orders to a specific individual.
Our commitment to your privacy.
As Internet users ourselves, we have strong feelings about properly storing and handling your personal information. We will never disclose your information to third parties except as outlined above, and we strive for the principle of "least information": for us to only store the least amount of information necessary in order to provide you with excellent customer service.
If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please feel free to contact us.
